Relevant Answer. Found solution that was suggested by google support person. Open an incognito window in chrome and login and download from there. For some reason, the files do not zip when downloading from an incognito window. It proceeds directly to downloading. Strange, but it works!!. When I was on my google drive, it seems no files were there as expected. But if I clicked on ALL ITEMS, all my files were there.. So I had to delete them 1 by 1 (actually at a time.. the Max you can). I had GB of file. hundreds of thousands of them. So you an actually see how many time it takes to delete them all.
